Join A Special Night of Silver Oak Cab and Beef Wellington at Five Crowns

Silver Oak 2013 Alexander Valley cabernet sauvignon.

Steak and red wine lover’s ears perk up when they hear the brand Silver Oak.

Long famous for producing solely cabernet sauvignon in Napa Valley and Alexander Valley, Silver Oak wine has been a top steakhouse pairing for decades. Silver Oak has a distinct cabernet flavor profile as they barrel exclusively in American oak. One step further, Silver Oak’s Duncan family owns a Missouri-based cooperage called The Oak to ensure a consistent American oak quality for its wines.

Five Crowns in Corona del Mar

Five Crowns in Corona del Mar is hosting a classic wine dinner at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 featuring the wines of Silver Oak and its sister winery, Twomey Cellars. Aptly, Five Crowns is part of the Lawry’s restaurant group, which has served premier prime rib and steak for nearly 100 years. The Silver Oak cabernet will be the showcase, but Twomey Cellars rounds out the varietal experience. Twomey, also owned by the Duncans, is the family’s foray beyond cabernet into pinot noir, merlot, and sauvignon blanc for which they mainly source the grapes. Both wineries stay rooted to a commitment of sustainable winegrowing practices with Silver Oak earning the wine industry’s first LEED Platinum Sustainability Certification.

Given that a newer release of Silver Oak cab fetches over $100, the $175 price that includes tax and gratuity for five courses, pairings, and a cocktail reception is extremely reasonable. Five Crowns’ Chef Alejandra Padrilla is pulling out all the stops, including culinary treasures from oysters to Beef Wellington.

This wine dinner will sell out. Five Crowns’ General Manager Kenyon Paar explained why they sought out this special evening with Silver Oak: “We both share a love of family and tradition. Silver Oak has focused on consistently creating one thing, exceptional cabernet sauvignon. Lawry’s has been the standard-bearer for delicious Prime rib for 90-plus years.” Sounds like a perfect match.
