As a skilled and experienced neurosurgeon, Dr. Anthony Kim is dedicated to the care and well-being of his patients. His goal is to combine compassionate patient care with the most up-to-date evidence based medicine, and to provide patients with teaching, insight, and knowledge of the pros and cons of recent advances in the neurosurgery ¬ field.
Exceptionally educated and trained, Dr. Kim graduated from Yale University and was trained at the Keck University of Southern California Department of Neurosurgery with fellowship training in complex spine and deformity. He also specializes in minimally invasive spinal surgery and brain tumors.
A 10-time recipient of the OC Physician of Excellence distinction, Dr. Kim has been successfully treating adult patients in South Orange County for over a decade. An innovative leader, he is currently one of the top experts and users of neurosurgery Computer Navigation, also known as STEALTH, and has helped pioneer the use of STEALTH and intraoperative tomography (O-arm) in the complex spine OR. He has performed over 700 spinal STEALTH cases and has completed 30 robotic Mazor X-guided spine surgeries, the most on the West Coast. Additionally, Dr. Kim is proud to offer the latest augmented reality spine procedures. He mainly works with the extremely experienced neurosurgical OR team at Mission Neuroscience Institute (MNI).
Respected by his peers, Dr. Kim has been invited to meetings to present before the Plenary Session at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the Western Neurological Society (WNS), the AANS-CNS section of Spine and Peripheral Nerve Disorders (“Spine section”), and the AANS-CNS section of Pediatric Neurosurgery to name a few. He recently appeared on The Doctors show to discuss his expertise on brain tumors. He has published in the main neurosurgical journals, Journal of Neurosurgery, the Spine journal, Neurosurgery, and Neurosurgical Focus among others.
On a personal note, Dr. Kim enjoys swimming and being with his wife, sons, and daughter. Dr. Kim also waives co-pays for musicians, artists, doctors, and all Disney employees “cast members.”
