March Forth Into Spring at Dromoland Castle, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Ireland
Endless drought and dust-covered palm trees may be our lot, but March should be a month of marbled skies, soft rain, and soggy fields budding with green. And on St. Patrick’s Day, you want to duck into an Irish pub and warm up with a pint of Guinness, right? Of course you do.

Enjoy the Feast of St. Patrick in high style at Dromoland Castle, dromoland.ie a 15th century great estate with 375 acres and a romantic history. The County Clare castle with crenellated turrets now is a luxury hotel complete with falconry lessons and lush grounds that can be explored on horseback. Rooms start at $276. … And if you want that low-key, genial pub experience, hop over to the village of Bunratty—practically next door—and visit Durty Nelly’s, a 1620 Irish pub in the shadow of Bunratty Castle. We recommend the fish and chips ($18). As for the weather, March can be drizzly, but it’s also when the primroses and daffodils appear.
