Surf City Exclusive: Hurley Printing Press
Get your fashion and art fix over the U.S. Open of Surfing weekend
If you had a chance to have a recognized artist screen you a Hurley tee while you hung out with pro athletes, would you take it?
Thanks to this week's U.S. Open of Surfing festivities, you can—at the Hurley Printing Press, a pop-up, pop-art shop meets rad-break-from-the-surf-and-sun-of-the-competition. Housed this weekend in the Livery Design Group building at Third and Walnut in Huntington Beach, the temporary Hurley house is open to all visitors. Craig Stecyk, artist and Hurley Printing Press curator of the pop-up's concept, says “Main Street of Surf City USA is the perfect venue … With a million kids in attendance, the possibilities for aesthetic advancement, fun, and mayhem are unlimited.”
Each day, while you watch, a different artist will display his work and hand-print his designs on the tee of your choice. Artists include Jersey Joe, Dalek, Madsteez, Tim Hendricks, Stecyk, and members of the Hurley Art Department who'll press their designs, then print them with fiberglass ink that dries in just 30 seconds. Check out Orange Coast's video on Instagram (click here) for a rundown of the process.

You can snag a tee for $30, or bring a receipt from a Hurley store purchase of over $50 and your tee is free. Reading us from afar? The designs will be available after the Open, in limited run online at hurley.com.
Don't need a tee? Then stop by for a chance to chill with the brand's team of pro athletes, including action sports legends Julian Wilson (2012 US Open Champion); Lakey Peterson (2012 Women’s US Open Champion); Carissa Moore (youngest ever 2011 World Champion at the age of 18); Jay Adams Legendary Dogtown Skateboarder); Conner Coffin 2012 US Open Junior Champion); Curren Caples (2013 X Games Gold Medalist); Greyson Fletcher (Professional Skateboarder); Kolohe Andino (Professional Surfer); Yadin Nicol (Professional Surfer); Nat Young (Professional Surfer); and Michel Bourez (Professional Surfer).
