No. 5 Taps Fish House & Brewery

B

rea’s big and busy original Taps Fish House & Brewery gets a dapper Irvine sibling—a fearless 10,000-square-foot sprawler that was years in the building. Multiple rooms and a patio are a sea of white tablecloths, befitting owner Joe Manzella’s faith in fine dining, though the colossal bar hums most of the day as well. Irvine upgrades include first-rate charcuterie, flashy tableside preps for salads, and a Texas smoker for fish and beef. Taps’ classics—including miso-marinated Chilean sea bass, award-winning house brews, and a lavish Sunday brunch—appear as well, all overseen by executive chef Andrew Monterrosa.

DRINK LOCAL For Taps Grapefruit IPA, nationally lauded brewmaster David Huls uses ripe fruit sourced
from Yorba Linda citrus trees.
